Welcome to the Battle of Plattsburgh Education section. The mission for the association is to educate and inform the public of the importance of the
Battle of Plattsburgh in the War of 1812 and our nation's history.
Our education committee is presently planning New York State Curriculum activities for teachers and students. We are very eager to share our current and future growth, and hope that your
school groups will visit our facility. Onboard the committee are a group of local retired teachers with extensive experience with The New York Department of Education - Social Studies K-12, a renowned re-enactor and educator,
and the Associate Director of the North Country Resource Center.
Past and continuing activities include The Passport and the Battle of Plattsburgh Essay Contest sponsored by KeyBank with cash awards. Northern New York students are eligible to enter the essay contest.
Cash awards are given to winners in three categories.
Currently, we are offering an activity packet about the Battle of Plattsburgh that conforms to the NY State Core Curriculum and an informational packet for school groups to visit our facility. Our goal is to present
future state-based lesson plans online for your classroom use. We hope that you will utilize these resources and contact us with comments and suggestions. This is an act in progress.
Thank you for visiting our site!
